Ahoy! I want to apologize for not posting a blog yesterday, but I was running around Rome all day yesterday. Anyway, here we go. Let’s start with Thursday/Friday.
Thursday & Friday – July 12 & 13th
On Thursday morning I flew from Cleveland to Newark on a very quick 1 hour flight. Once I arrived in Newark, I spent the next 5 hours in the United Club waiting for my Newark to Rome flight. Once, boarding time came I walked on board the 767 I was upgraded to Business First. Best news ever! When you’re sitting on a flight for 7 and a half hours Business First flat laying seats really can help the time pass faster! Anyway, after landing in Rome’s Fiucimo Airport we made our way through customs and then boarded a bus into the city. Once we arrived in Rome we jumped on the subway and began to make our way around the major attractions including the beautiful gardens and ruins around the Forum and Circus Maximus. We toured the Coliseum which is just amazing in person. It’s hard to imagine that the Romans could build such a large and complex building so long ago. Later at night we toured the Vatican including the Vatican Museum, St. Peter’s Square, and the beautiful St. Peter’s Basilica. I will post a ton of pictures later tonight in another post.
So after a crazy and hectic day in Rome and a pretty quick train ride I arrived in Civitavecchia to board the Mariner of the Seas!
Saturday – July 14th
When we arrived at Civitavecchia we boarded a bus that took us over to the terminal where Mariner was docked and we were on board the ship within 10 minutes of walking into the port. This was by far the fastest embarkation ever! So currently it is 5:14 on Mariner of the Seas and I have already eaten at the Boardwalk Dog House where I had a delicious pork hot dog. I am just getting settled into my balcony cabin on deck 7 where I currently have a beautiful view of the Ruby Princess. We have muster drill in about 45 minutes now so I will post again later tonight to let you know how the rest of my night here onboard the Mariner of the Seas goes. Talk to you soon!
